Kuo: Redesigned MacBook Pro To Launch In 2021, Affordable MacBook Air In 2022

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple plans to release two redesigned MacBook Pros in 2021, and a new MacBook Air in 2022, all come with mini-LED displays and Apple Silicon chips.

In a research report to investors, Kuo stated that the two new MacBook Pros will adopt a redesigned form factor and are expected to be released in 2021. In addition, Apple is expected to release a new "affordable" MacBook Air in 2022. The new products will be featuring Apple Silicon chips and mini-LED displays.

Kuo believes that the cost of the Apple Silicon ‌of the new MacBook will be lower, which offsets the increase in cost brought about by mini-LEDs. In addition, he expects Apple's laptops to become the main driving factor for mini-LED panel shipments.

Prior to this, Kuo said that the mini-LED display of the iPad Pro will start production in the fourth quarter of 2020 and is expected to be launched in the first half of 2021.
