Toyota is now expanding the CarPlay support in its newest Toyota cars by offering retrofits for 2018 Camrys and Siennas. The company is soon contacting the Sienna and Camry owners about this new opportunity to update their Entune systems. These retrofits will consist of upgraded hardware and Entune 3.0 software with the Apple CarPlay, plus the Amazon Alexa support.

The company has been introducing CarPlay to the 2019 Toyota Avalon, Sienna, and the Camry, which the feature is standard of the Entune 3.0 version. But Toyota has been late to the CarPlay era since it was first introduced in 2014 alongside iOS 7.1.

A car blog website, named Car and Driver, has reached out to Toyota and they stated,
Toyota says it will be notifying Camry and Sienna owners and “encouraging them to contact their dealer” about the retrofit; the installation will be done at dealerships. We reached out to Toyota to ask if the retrofit costs anything, and a spokesperson for the brand said there “may be a small service charge” and that dealers will be able to provide more information. Toyota doesn’t say how long it will actually take to complete the installation.
This implies that Toyota will reach out to owners of the 2018 Camry and Sienna regarding about this retrofit. The installation will be done at their local Toyota dealer, depending on availability. In addition, the price will be dependent upon which dealer you’re getting the retrofit done, and they’ll cost only a small fee. Although the service hasn’t been implemented yet, it’s unsure about how long the retrofit will take.

Therefore, Toyota is the second company to offer retrofits for adding CarPlay to Entune systems. Mazda first started the retrofits for 2014 and later models for just $199. Although this service is not final yet, which means that the company is still undergoing the development of the service.
